ITS SOOO HOT.....IM MELTING....aaaahhhhhh

Oh my goodness its toasty! Okay today is day 2 of no air conditioner...I think I am going to crack and say "TURN IT ON!" I am trying to hold out until June 1st...kinda like we try to hold out turning on the heat until November 1st....that didnt work either. It wasnt so bad last night but my pregnant dog is laying on her back soaking up the fan air and I really feel sorry for her. My livingroom is like a humid oven and my fingers are sticking to the keyboard....YUCKY!!
WELL guess what I got??? yep, the treadmill I have been hoping to find at a price I can afford and as unbeleivable as it sounds hubby found it at a garage sale.....it was marked 15.00 and I almost fainted with excitement until she said everything is half off! So for 7.50 I got a schweet Proform treadmill with the necessary things like heart rate, incline and the dang thing flies on "performance" mode....I dont see me going there unless I'm standing off to the side and accidently push it...lol... I am buying a new walk belt for 90.00 and whoot whoot ....its great. Hubby says if I use it regularly and like it I can get the bells and whistles one I REALLY would love with a fan....computer hookup for IPOD or whatever......and speakers. Yea!

So everything is going wonderfully at the farmette, no casualties, no one sick and no one missing...thats a plus... I redid our screenroom and it is now our summer/fall diningroom. I hope it prevents crap from accumulating on our kitchen table but that remains to be seen. Cookie, my little blue brindle chihuahua was due on Saturday and I am hoping its over with soon. She had 6 last time and is pretty much the same girth right now. I have 2 little kitties left that are 9 weeks old and they are laying around in the bathroom on the tile because its cooler...poor babies.
Today I am going to cut out some dollies...I have a gorgeous George Washington doll with his horse Blueskin from Prim and Proper Folks to start and a couple others. Its toooooooo hot to play outside today...lol I think I may start a quilt top today too...no guarentees but I am
B-O-R-E-D.....unbelievable but its better than tired~

enough-barlow girl

Great Sadness this week......

Great sadness on Wednesday here at the Bornhorst Farmette..... I returned from dropping off my second batch of chickies at the butcher to find that something entered my garage and grabbed all three hens, 2 of whom were sitting in a nest box, and my rooster Seramas....I was sooooo sad. My little white hen that weighed all of 9 0z was completely missing and the rest were massacred....my little cocky rooster was still sitting in the cage with his head missing.... and the 6 eggs that were ready to hatch any day were ice cold. My youngest daughter was devastated and she doesnt even live here. Whatever it was dragged the cage to the front of the garage and pulled them thru the bars. My sweet little white hen was no where to be found..not even a feather. Hubby said its his fault for not shutting the garage door all the way down so our 2 cats could get back in. Soooo sad...they were sooo cute and friendly. I dont know anyone around me that has them. SIGH..............
My big adventures this week were....removing box black from my older daughters hair....what a trial that was. It only took 2 days to get the blonde she wanted and I am NEVER NEVER going to listen to beauty supply ladies again!!! I always second guess myself and I KNOW THAT I NEEDED A BLUE BASED TONER for orange but did I believe myself ? Well of course not..... I also ran up to Whitewater WI to pick up a little chihuahua I gave a friend that she is tired of....poor Louie...he is 3.5yrs old and I was sooooooo dissappointed when I got him back...He is in SAD shape. He only weighs three and a half pounds and his coat is dull and falling out, from licking himself he is brown instead of white in places...I think he has a skin fungus....and he is missing a front a tooth. She has mean little neices and nephews and I cannot imagine what he has been thru. He has been there a year. He is such a sweet dog too. GRRRRRRRR........... I'm so angry for giving him to her thinking he would have a great home.
annnndddd for the first time in probably 20 or so years I RAN OUT OF GAS IN THE CAR!!! LOL.... I felt like a moron! My hubby's old jeep which is now the chicken transporter, has a defunct gas gauge and I assumed since I put gas in it 2 days earlier I could drive everywhere......he had to come rescue me. I think I am going to stick to my own car that lets me know when its thirsty. For the 20 minutes or so I was inconvenienced my daughter and I had a good time on the side of the road remarking on how the 20 sheriffs police cars that passed us didnt even slow down to see if we were alive..... and how they should harness the wind impact of hundreds of cars that zip by and almost tipple the car over.
Well I am thinking of changing and shaking up my doll designs soon... I have some ideas in my head that need to be put into paper and fabric. I have loved prims for over 20 years and before they were so wildly popular but I am looking in a fresh new direction. We shall see how it goes!
Cookie my chihuahua is due on Saturday and I can hardly wait to see what she has. Last year she had 6 puppies...all were merled or had blue eyes and 2 were blue coated. This is her last litter I think. I may have to keep a baby!
I posted a video of my older daughter singing....she has a wonderful voice and sings regularly at church and got on a Christian version of American Idol...she tried out this year of AI and was in a group of 6 for the audition....they let the the other 5 go and told her she was great but they were looking for a different sound and try next year....HOPE SHE DOES!

Sooooo Bizzzyyyyy

Well I have been a bizzy bee and havent had a second to update...or sew...or see if Russell is still on Survivor. Everyday seems like a crisis needs to be averted with the animals. Yesterday we removed the chicken wire under the meat chicken tractor because even with wheels its hard to push 75 chickens around and 2 ended up with a broken leg or so it would seem. So in the rain, cold and me in a thin cotton shirt we froze while clipping all the bottom wires so painstakingly attatched to the bottom. Now the tractor moves like a dream even with the 40lb feeder of food and the 5 gallon waterer. Awesome.

I do however have to feed the 2 with a broken leg and put them in my brooder with the feisty half grown peeps...sigh..... and my schweet ducklings have moved to a resort with a pond. That is good for them and good for me because chasing them down every evening to put them in the garage pen is a pain. My layers are doing fabulous, no eggs, just fat chickens. We had a wheel crisis with that tractor earlier in the week and had to do some modifications.....why do men NEVER listen to anything you tell them? All the chaos could of been avoided had he just listened . NOT JUST HEARD ME but also processed what I said , maybe even giving it some thought before moving on to whatever goes on in his head. Everything is a quick fix and I tend to think about the future and how well things will hold up. Silly me. My darling Serama chickens are sitting on 6 or 7 eggs and its almost time for the hatch. Unfortunately even though I candled the ones in the incubator they have not hatched. Dont know why as I have an auto egg turner I dutifully turned off 3 days before the hatch was to occur.....I am going to have to do more research. My little Yorkie puppy and Maltese puppy are driving me crazy but that is their job so I cannot complain and my little Persian kitties are ready to go next week. I get to keep the lynx lilac Himilayan girl with the gorgeous blue eyes. She is so sweet and loves attention. Its a good time to keep a kitty since the puppies are young. They love the mommy kitty and she has foolishly allowed them to bite her tail and play with it. When the hormones of nursing are over I can see someone getting swatted.

I am going to try as hard as possible to straighten my sewwing area so I can mess it up...there is nothing like a totally organized work space to motivate me to create...lol like a kid finding a mud puddle.LOL

WOW am I bushed!

My incubator came yesterday and I was soooooo excited until I opened it and found out they are made of STYROFOAM!!! how lame! I cant believe it was 55.00 and I had to get an egg turner to put in it. Those are about $42.00 but my Farm and Fleet has them for 36.00. Now I have 10 Serama eggs twirling and heated to a perfect 95.5 degrees. Cant wait to see if any hatch.

Today after I rolled the ladies out to the yard, watered and fed them and did the playpen of 75 stinkies with 3 ducks, the rabbits the 3 misfits in my screen room bin, the Persian kitties upstairs, my two Malty puppies, the rescue girls and scrubbed the run in between so the other 5 could go out and hung out laundry and cleaned the house....AFTER that I dug up a half of a garden bed and planted 9 tomato plants that were bursting out of the peat pots and getting wobbly and dutifully put a plastic gallon jug over them, did my herb garden of chives, oregano, rosemary, and cilantro, dug and planted my grape vines and laid down black landscaping paper beween the plants and mulched with straw, started a worm bucket for hubby and helped him plant my strawberry plants in a used tire I plan on painting later...... AND NOW HAVE A SPLITTING HEADACHE from Sun exposure and noticed I am burnt to a crispy crunch....NOW I AM EXHAUSTED..........LOL..... I am now NOT looking forward to planting my garden....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yeah ....its done!

So this is where our free range, organic chickens are going to be laying those luscious good for you eggies!!! So happy its done. Only 2 weekends and 3 LONG days. We started at 11am and came it just before dark...soooo sore and I am sure hubby couldnt wait to get back to work to relax...lol

inside...yep thats a pool cue and a drawer. That stupid pool cue has been in our garage for about 15 years and I dont know where it came from but it was perfect. Its sad to see my craftshow display no longer available but its a good recycle. We paid exactly 0 dollars to make this from stuff we had laying around....AWSOME....lol the girls seem to like it and now I cannot wait to make ones for our new freezer goodies........so nice to just roll them out into the lawn everyday...no mess ....no fusss....not alot of cleaning....ahhhh....loverly. Towards the end of May I am taking 75 more into the processor.... I am not sure how, but that will be soooo nice.. I have 25 comming this week and then 50 more right before the others are due to go in. My schweet Serama chickens are laying eggs like crazy and my incubator hasnt come yet. Cant wait to hatch some of the little tiny birdies.

I havent had much time to sew lately and am taking my Mom to the doc for a blood test to see how her kidneys are functioning and then to Wally world so I dont see tomarro workin for that either. Sigh. I have my granddog Linus for two days....I wish I could say I was happy about it but IM NOT!!! He is a little ball of dynamite and drives me crazy. AAAHHHGG he is only 3 lbs and a very cute UNHOUSEBROKEN Yorkie.... he makes the rescue Maltese bark non stop.
My other daughter counts the hours down until she comes to get him. too funny.
Its been an exciting weekend for sure. I got my gimpy little partridge Cochin to perch on my shoulder. I cannot keep her with the other chickens because they will pick at her. She was the one that had PBS as a peep....lol Such a sweet chickie and she just nestles down in the palm of my hand. Also had a great time with the ducklings.... they are riot and all they need is a small dish of water to make a HUGE mess ...love to watch them play. Been reading My Utmost For His Highest, the updated version by Oswald Chambers...absolutely wonderful and I am glad it came to me as an older person. It has more impact. I highly recommend it.

MMMMM..........it is yummy!

Okay so I picked up my chickies from the processor and had to make it for dinners....YUM-ME!! Not a speck of yucky yellow fat or anything....They look sooooooooo good with a sealed bag and sticker from the processor and everything! lol...not a pin feather on them and they even stuffed the unimportant yuckies inside like the neck, liver , heart and (cough) gizzard.. amazing... I gave one to my mom too because she cannot seem to stop eating pork and has gout so she needs to get red meat outta her diet...of course she threw it in the freezer so it will probably never be eaten...sigh..... I had to take her to the doctor today because she was having a hard time walking and her creatin level is up so her kidneys are not functioning too well.
I also am hoping to have time to finish a few dollies as I have been lax in that department lately. Too bizzy doing animal/garden stuff. Its going to be cold tomarro so I can get stuff done here..just gotta get more CHICKEN FOOD so they can make a mess to clean up and get fat.
My Maltese rescues are running around barking, playing with toys and still running away if you try to pet them lol...but they do lick your fingers and one tries to pull my hand around with her and is surprized when the rest me comes with it. Im so happy they are comming around. I actually bathed them myself yesterday and was kinda scared since when we had them groomed last week it took 3 hours and 3 people to hold them for it. I just couldnt stand the smell anymore....
So sad to find out my doctor whom I just love has been divorced for 2 years now and his 18 year old is going to college....he said it would be lonely around the house with just the 17 yr old dog and him....boo....
